As we predicted, the 21st modern fairytale by the icon of Syfy Guillermo Del Toro brought home the best picture award. Well deserved, the emotional, romantic and stunningly magical film brings along, underneath the peculiar fairytale, some of the issues that nowadays are being the focal point of the world.
Best Actress In a Leading Role.
As we talked about, Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, was a tough competitor in this years Oscars. With it came some of the most powerful concepts to challenge nowadays societal problems. A powerful actress in a powerful movie, Frances McDormand shows the world how you can be one the examples to follow.
While we’re at it, this icon of Hollywood with an Oscar on its own for Fargo, had one of the most refreshing dresses of the evening. Not being the Oscar-winning actress we’re used to, it was definitely good to see the makeup-free face and the stunning dress. Gold certainly fits her well.
Best Actor In a Leading Role.
With Darkest Hour, came Gary Oldman in its incredible performance as Winston Churchill. The powerful performance that brought him the desired Oscar nomination and win. The political thriller that brought the public the human side of one of the most powerful politicians of all time.
Always a pleasure to the eye, Gary Oldman with already 59, brought charm, elegance and most of all simplicity to the Academy Awards 2018. – An incredible bow-tie we must say and an even better handkerchief must we say. –
Best Original Screenplay.
One of our all-time favourites, Get Out was the one to get our attention from the beginning. Written and directed by Jordan Peele, the first Oscar of the comedian, in his acceptance speech, Peele was as usual, funny, humble and a true inspiration.
The perfect example of how white is truly magic. Jordan Peele brought the elegance, charm and allurement to the red carpet 2018. Making history in the fittest and most elegant clothes a person can have. – *Bonus Alert: if you are a fan of Brooklyn 99, one of the stars of the show, Chelsea Peretti was absolutely one of the showstoppers alongside her husband, Jordan Peele!* –
The 14th time was definitely the charm for Roger Deakins on Sunday evening when the legendary cinematographer has just won his first Academy Award after over a dozen nominations! His 2018 nod, for Blade Runner 2049, was the 14th in a career that has spanned over 40 years, many classics —including Shawshank Redemption.
Time For The Best Dressed Of The Events!
We couldn’t escape the best dressed of the evening. Featuring stunning colours, sparkles all around and magnificent shapes, the Oscar’s 2018 had a bit of everything to every taste. Here are our four favourites, filled with the breaming colour red and the amazingness that metallic dresses had over the Academy Awards. From the spectacular Versace dress of Lupita Nyong’o, Sandra Bullock and Louis Vuitton style, Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior and Allison Janney in Reem Acra. All the leading ladies and gentleman were honoured in the one true glamour event of the year.
