Interior design is not the only thing that drives us. We are also passionate about the world of cinema, art, photography and, as you might have guessed by now, music. The music world in general, but the jazz and blues music world, in particular, is one of our greatest passions. Working alongside DelightFULL, it is easy to understand how the connection between the interior design world and blues music is a major one. That is why today we are more than happy to be celebrating the International Blues Music Day with a lot of mid-century design added to the mix.

WHAT IS ‘BLUES MUSIC DAY’?
The International Blues Music Day is an annual event that occurs every first Saturday of August. So, as you might have noticed, this year’s International Blues Music Day is today! It all started with an online petition in 2011 and after thousands of people had joined in on the fun, a formula was established that every first Saturday of August, the IBMD would be celebrated. This initiative came from the world-renowned blues musician Johnny Childs, and together with the NYC Blues Society, they are the lead nonprofit organization charged with planning, promoting and ultimately producing this special day dedicated to the Blues world.
HOW IS DELIGHTFULL CELEBRATING THIS LEGACY?
As you are aware, most of DelightFULL’s lighting designs are inspired by renowned people from the music industry, especially the jazz and blues world. So, on this very special day, we have selected five of the most famous Blues musicians and paired them up with some of the most incredible mid-century lighting designs inspired by their own personas.

Charles is a modern vanity light designed by DelightFULL and inspired by the great Ray Charles and his electrifying music. A simple lighting design, Charles is handmade in brass and aluminum by some of the finest artisans in Portugal. The mount is made of brass, with a nickel plated finish, while the shades have minimalist perforation details and also feature a nickel plated and a matte white finish.
