Brief History<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1955, HOK<\/strong> was established in\u00a0St. Louis, Missouri, and the company was named\u00a0due to\u00a0the surnames of its three founding partners: George Hellmuth<\/strong>, Gyo Obata<\/strong> and George Kassabaum<\/strong>. The HOK founding partners were all graduated at\u00a0the School of Architecture from\u00a0Washington University in St. Louis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The design firm started with 26 employees and its three founders.<\/p>\n

The firm has started winning commissions across the United States by the mid-1960s, and HOK<\/strong><\/a> began to open additional offices, starting with San Francisco.<\/p>\n

In 1968, HOK<\/strong><\/a> released\u00a0its interior design practice and started to\u00a0expand also to\u00a0Washington DC. In 1973, HOK established its presence in New York and\u00a0acquired Kahn & Jacobs, and by the 1970s, the firm was operating internationally too.<\/p>\n

Just in the decade of 90s\u00a0HOK opened its first office outside the US, in Hong Kong. In 1987, it was time for HOK\u2019s\u00a0London office.\u00a0And actually by 2007 international work represented more than 40% of HOK\u2019s annual revenue.<\/p>\n

In 2013, HOK acquired the New York and Shanghai offices of hospitality design firm BBG-BBGM, creating one of the largest interior design firms, and in\u00a02015, HOK announced that it had completed its acquisition of 360 Architecture.<\/p>\n
