Tom Dixon<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0has presented his new 2016 Collection<\/em> in the ICFF\u00a0(International Contemporary Furniture Fair), in New York,\u00a0on the heels of debuting the designs\u00a0at the most recent Milan Design Week. These new bold and shiny collection\u00a0have included\u00a0lighting, tables, stools, and tabletop accessories. Here we would like to show you some of the pieces that were at the show. The new collection presentation was at The Restaurant by Caesarstone and Tom Dixon \u2013 a collaboration between the designer and the quartz-surface brand for which four kitchen units will be used to produce a menu for the visitors.<\/p>\n

A geometric light named Curve<\/strong> aims to \u201cpush the boundaries of thin sheet etched metal fabrication\u201d with its pierced shell and nickel silver coating. Its punctured shade means that light is emitted as a filtered glow.<\/p>\n

Named Materiality, the collection\u00a0was made up of five ranges, each highlighting the basic materials or \u201craw matter\u201d used by the brand to create its products.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarble, <\/em>wood and plastic, glass, iron, brass and copper are the basic building blocks that have defined our products from the outset,\u201d said the designer. \u201cThis year, we step back and take a look at our biggest influence and an underpinning inspiration for what we do: our materials.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Lamps in the\u00a0second collection named Fade<\/strong> are made from a polycarbonate shade moulded into a teardrop shape.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe teardrop shape focusses the lightbulb\u2019s output into a satisfyingly round and luminous circle, acting as the ultimate oversized spotlight,\u201d said the designer. \u201cThe metal finish is unusual as it graduates from completely reflective to transparent in an even fade along the body of the lamp.\u201d<\/p>\n

Flask<\/strong> is a series of three laboratory-style pendant lights. Each comprises two components \u2013 a clear rippled glass lens which produces a series of concentric, luminous rings, and a black glass shade finished in an oily iridescent colour.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny designer worth their salt should be concerned by the choice of materials, but for us it is a veritable obsession,\u201d he continued. \u201cWe wanted to tell you a bit more about the substances that we shape, the raw matter that we form into these extraordinary objects for everyday use.\u201d<\/p>\n
