French architects are turning the former Soccer Stadium<\/strong><\/em> of OGC (Nice) into a commercial and residential space with a healthy amount of landscaped greenery. The design firm Maison \u00c9douard Fran\u00e7ois\u2019s, in collaboration with ABC Architects, plans to this soccer stadium, in France,\u00a0in a great commercial and living space. The idea was top prize in a competition to transform the venue into a mixed-use complex distinguished by plant-covered fa\u00e7ades. For the structures, the architects at Maison \u00c9douard Fran\u00e7ois took Nice\u2019s naturally hilly surroundings as design inspiration, crafting a series of undulating structures raised to different heights via supporting columns. This essentially leaves the complex\u2019s entire grounds available, allowing residents to walk underneath the buildings and access the park directly from the street, making the project not only a rejuvenation for the derelict stadium but also a place for the community\u2019s residents to enjoy. In addition to the landscape, the architects paid homage to the surrounding architecture, employing traditional Ni\u00e7ois materials like white stone and wood used frequently in neighboring villas.<\/p>\n

On the whole, Maison \u00c9douard Fran\u00e7ois\u2019s design will infuse a very urban quarter of Nice with some much-needed greenery, a perk perhaps best described by the firm on its website as \u201coffering the city a new green lung.\u201d The project is scheduled to be finished in 2017.<\/p>\n
