A nice loft has been transformed into a modern family home\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>by Lang Architecture. To preserve the\u00a0authentic nature of the former printing workshop, the architects retained an open plan principle within the design and stripped back distractions to reach the original structure.<\/p>\n

The only\u00a0requirement was to have a\u00a0open space and a lot of natural light, for that the architects knock down all the existent internal walls and\u00a0roll out a new plan incorporating the additional bedrooms and bathrooms around a central and open core for living. The living room and kitchen, was divided with a\u00a0sliding steel and glass pocket door, giving an amazing look to\u00a0the heart of the family home.<\/p>\n

All the windows allows light enter into the loft during the daytime! Other of the main goals was to maintain some of the\u00a0historic character and raw spirit of the place, which\u00a0Lang Architecture\u00a0smoothed and refined to reflect the new\u00a0sophisticated identity of the loft.<\/p>\n

All the steel and cast iron beams and columns were exposed and repainted, graduating from structural necessities into design features, while new finishes and surfaces were applied to the masonry vaults and factory strip maple flooring creating clean lines across the space.<\/p>\n
