The British designer Peter Saville\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>created a unique range of glassware inspired in laboratory material, for the\u00a0Manchester\u2019s Museum of Science & Industry. This creation evolves only three glass flasks\u00a0etched with diagonal stripes, intended as a reference to\u00a0the English\u00a0city\u2019s industrial heritage.<\/p>\n

Actually, those three diagonal stripes are also featured in\u00a0Manchester\u2019s coat of arms, representing\u00a0its three rivers (the Irwell, the Med\u00adlock and the Irk).\u00a0As well as that, they are part of the graphic identity\u00a0of legendary nightclub The Ha\u00e7ienda.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis three-lined image is echoed across the worksites of Manchester at its industrial height, before more recently \u2013 and perhaps most famously \u2013 being appropriated by designer Ben Kelly as a key feature of factory club The Ha\u00e7ienda\u2019s instantly recognisable dance floor,\u201d said the museum.<\/p>\n

The glassware is produced and etched in the north of England, coming with a natural silicone base mat and stopper. Since he moved to London, Saville\u2019s clients\u00a0included department store Selfridges, record label EMI and fashion houses like Jil Sander, John Galliano, Christian Dior and Stella McCartney.<\/p>\n

In 2013, he was\u00a0awarded the London Design Medal,\u00a0and was at one stage\u00a0reported to be working on a logo for Kanye West. More recently, he had collaborated with fashion brands like Lacost and Y-3.<\/p>\n
