\u201cThe project started with an unconventional request from an open-minded couple\u00a0\u2013 within a very tight budget, to convert a windowless garage into a house,\u201d said the architects.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proposed intervention intended the clearest reading possible of the existing structure, emphasizing its strength,\u201d they continued. \u201cWhile the garage was careless and grey, the house is clean and white; its materiality is flat, its light is abstract.\u201d \"Makeover:<\/p>\n

The architects have created a largely open-plan living area\u00a0and tucked two bathrooms behind a curving wall. All walls and the ceiling were painted white, while the floor was covered in polished concrete. The roof was opened up to include skylights, and additional decoration was kept to a minimum. How nice?<\/p>\n

The Fala Atelier<\/strong> is led by\u00a0Magalh\u00e3es with Ana Luisa Soares and Ahmed Belkhodja. Other interiors by the studio\u00a0include a\u00a0Porto estate agents with marble\u00a0furniture and partitions\u00a0and\u00a0a\u00a0Lisbon apartment with a minimal aesthetic and sliding doors.<\/p>\n
