Studio 1 Architects had renewed an amazing\u00a0Victorian House<\/strong><\/em>, where they add a\u00a0brick extension\u00a0with a large window\u00a0creating\u00a0a\u00a0light-filled seating area lined in\u00a0white-washed ash slats.<\/p>\n

Located in the southwest London, the London-based firm has\u00a0reconfigured and extended\u00a0the ground floor of the Gladstone Road property. The main goal of the project was to\u00a0create living spaces with views and access to the garden.<\/p>\n

\u201cInside this unassuming Victorian House is a unique, contemporary total refurbishment with additional rear and roof extensions,\u201d said Studio 1 Architects.\u00a0\u201cSeamless skylights, concrete floors, exposed brickwork, projecting glass box, whitewashed ash slats and oak ribs create an enthralling new take on a period house,\u201d they added.<\/p>\n

The one-storey brick structure is occupied by a built-in seating area, with a huge window, that let all the light and view from the garden come in,\u00a0cantilevers\u00a0with thin black frames.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cA protruding glass box cantilevers over the garden,\u201d explained them. \u201cThis box is frameless and provides a close connection to the garden when sitting in the built in seating area\u201d.\u00a0\u201cAsh timber slats create zoning of the sitting area and wrap up and over the ceiling,\u201d they added.\u201dThese disappear into a seamless skylight.\u201d<\/p>\n
