Victoria-based\u00a0architecture firm, BKK Architects<\/a>, completed in 2014 what we now know as Split House. Little did they know that Split was to be featured in the\u00a02016 AIA Victorian Architecture Awards<\/strong>, with a Commendation for Residential New!<\/p>\n

Split is integrated with its environmental surroundings, taking the best advantage of the natural elements<\/strong> around the property. Both in the images above and below we can see how the natural rocks and local flora create a stunning visual effect together with the wooden exterior.<\/p>\n

Smaller elements, such as integrated seating, stairs and study nooks provide spaces for quiet contemplation, juxtaposed with larger communal areas for family and friends to come together.<\/p>\n

The house comprises two<\/strong> relatively simple volumes<\/strong> linked by a splayed stair that also acts as a seating area for people to gather, listen to music, sit in the warm Australian sun.\u00a0Occupying separate levels that follow the natural contours of the site, the two pavilions provide a separation between the upper, main living\/master bedroom zone and rumpus room\/guest bedrooms below.<\/p>\n
