Although La La Land<\/strong> took home six of the golden statues, the biggest shock of the evening was, without a doubt, what will go down as The Academy\u2019s most\u00a0awkward<\/em> moment ever\u2026 It was with La La Land\u2019s cast already celebrating on stage, that Moonlight<\/strong> received one of the highest honors in the field, by being awarded Best Motion Picture<\/strong>. The singer performed two nominated songs from the modern musical: \u201cAudition (The Fools Who Dream)\u201d and \u201cCity of Stars.\u201d The production on-stage tried to replicate the movies\u2019 setting, creating a magical atmosphere<\/strong> in Dolby Theatre.<\/p>\n

After what was probably one of the biggest misunderstanding\u2019s at the Oscar\u2019s ever, Moonlight<\/strong> got up on stage to receive one of the highest honors of the seventh art. The whole cast and crew stood together to raise the well-deserved last golden statue of the evening!<\/p>\n

The real-life atomic age hero, Katherine Johnson<\/strong>, a\u00a098-year-old retired mathematician who inspired\u00a0Hidden Figures<\/i><\/strong>, came onstage during the ceremony to simply say: \u201cThank you very much.\u201d The three movie stars then proceeded to discuss how important it is to highlight the stories of people who have made a difference but don\u2019t get the attention they deserve.<\/p>\n
