When we discover this amazing London<\/strong>\u2018s contemporary house<\/strong><\/em> we had to share it with you! This stunning project was designed by the London-based architect studio De Rosee Sa<\/strong>. The studio created a\u00a0trio of courtyards covered in cobbles and surrounded by a glass break up\u00a0this London home, which has\u00a0cedar-lined walls that\u00a0reference\u00a0the\u00a0old timber store it replaces.<\/p>\n

The project had some restriction as the impossibility of creating openings in the\u00a0two 37-metre-long boundaries as they are party walls with the neighboring structures.\u00a0Instead, three internal courtyards and a series of skylights are used to\u00a0bring plenty of natural light into the long-and-thin residence aptly named Courtyard House.<\/p>\n

\"A \"A\"architecture<\/a><\/p>\n

The courtyards\u00a0split the house into three parts,\u00a0a combined kitchen and dining area, a lounge and a two-storey bedroom block created by digging down to form a basement. Allowing the views into and through the outdoor space, they used crittall\u00a0style glazing and doors\u00a0enclosing the courtyards.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most satisfying aspects of the project is the top light that pours into the interiors and the long views through the courtyards,\u201d said studio co-founder Max de Rosee.\u00a0\u201cOnce inside, you forget that this house is in London.\u201d<\/p>\n

The\u00a0lounge is linked to the combined kitchen and dining room, by one of the yards,\u00a0which in turn overlooks a sunken courtyard set between it and the two-storey bedroom block.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to contrast the crisp white walls and ceiling with some strong materials so we spent a considerable amount of time considering the detail of the western red cedar battens and granite setts in the courtyard surfaces,\u201d said\u00a0de Rosee.<\/p>\n

Glazed doors bring light into the two bedrooms, which are set one on top of each other alongside their ensuite bathrooms.\u00a0A\u00a0third yard, which is much smaller than the other two, also cuts between the bedrooms and\u00a0bathrooms to provide further lighting.<\/p>\n
