You may think that all shopping centres are alike, but if you have the chance to see the commercial interior design<\/strong><\/em> of Berlin\u2019s KaDeWe, you will see something really different from the rest.<\/p>\n

The first thing you will notice when you enter Berlin\u2019s KaDeWe is the geometric\u00a0pattern on the floor and around the shop windows.<\/p>\n

The French architect India Mahdavi was inspired by the Bauhaus design school and has used different\u00a0shades of quartz\u00a0to create bold, geometric floor patterns in\u00a0the womenswear section.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mahdavi\u00a0wanted to\u00a0celebrate the cultural history\u00a0of the German city with her design and she chose to borrow from the geometric style\u00a0of the Bauhaus and used it for the floor design of the 2,000 square-metre space.<\/p>\n

Black, white and grey stripes of Santa Margherita, a composite stone made from quartz sand and resin, create walkways through\u00a0the womenswear department.<\/p>\n

The patterns in\u00a0the stone floor create combine perfectly with the other rich textures and materials chosen by the designer.<\/p>\n

Other colours and designs complete the work of India Mahdavi such as the pale pink carpeting, block colours of quartz flooring and olive green and dusty pink velvet curtains.<\/p>\n

With the busy environment of the shopping centre in mind, her KaDeWe design\u00a0is also intended\u00a0to stick out.<\/p>\n
