Over the past decade, the Oktoberfest<\/strong> has attracted an average of around six million visitors<\/strong> a year, who between them consume almost seven million litres of beer<\/strong> and munch their way through thousands of grilled sausages, chickens, giant pretzels and \u2013 for those really wanting to soak it all up \u2013 wild oxen.<\/p>\n

The original Oktoberfest<\/strong> in October 1810 was held in honour of the wedding between Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.<\/p>\n

The only beer served comes from Munich breweries such as the Augustiner, Paulaner and Spaten. The most popular variation is the lager-like Helles. The cost of a beer? Brace yourselves because\u00a0the cheapest beer this year will be \u20ac10.60 (\u00a39.34) per litre. The most expensive is likely to set you back \u20ac10.95 (\u00a39.64 per litre).<\/p>\n
