Maison et Objet 2018\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/a>will be happening January 19-23 and it\u2019s closer than ever before since today we are going to present you one of the most outstanding Scandinavian woman<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0of the design world. Cecilie Manz has been found of art since very little. As a child, she wouldn\u2019t miss any opportunity to sink her hand into the clay of her parents\u2019 ceramicist studio. In 1977 she earned a diploma in object and furniture design<\/em><\/strong> from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and in the very next year, she founded her own studio in Copenhagen after she further her education at the Universtiy of Art and Design in Helsinki.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Let's<\/a><\/p>\n

The Danish designer told Maison et Objet that \u201cthe balance she maintains between civilization and nature is vital to her creative process.\u201d <\/em>Her inspiration\u00a0is\u00a0also provided by her lifestyle and relationships\u00a0<\/em>with family members.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy work goes from the inside out, and a project has to possess a sound, strong and relevant idea or functional justification before I address the actual physical design. My work has always revolved around simplicity, the process of working toward a pure, aesthetic and narrative object.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\"Let's<\/a><\/p>\n

Today, Cecilie Manz designs furniture, glass, lamps and industrial products<\/em><\/strong>, mainly for the home. Her experimental prototypes and more sculptural one-offs make up also play an important part of her work. When asked about the biggest highlight of her career, Cecilie Manz admits that it was the ceremony for the Crown Prince Couple\u2019s Culture Award she won in 2014, presented to her by the Prince and Princess of Denmark. Cecilie Manz is, without any doubt,\u00a0one of the major figures of Scandinavian design.<\/em> <\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

A Versatile Designer with a Scandinavian Inspiration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Ladder<\/em><\/strong> was her first project that was quickly picked up for production by Nils Holger Moormann.<\/p>\n

Caravaggio lamp<\/strong><\/em> ( 2005, with Lightyears) has also jumpstarted her career. Not a best seller, but certainly\u00a0a long seller.<\/p>\n

Cecilie Manz has also worked on various projects such\u00a0as sofa throws<\/strong><\/em>, a minibar for a Wallpaper* show<\/em><\/strong>, a series of wooden armchairs<\/strong><\/em>, a collection of dining tables<\/strong><\/em> and chairs for Fritz Hansen, glass vases<\/em><\/strong>, and several models of portable speakers for B&O Play.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is constantly experimenting in her studio and she will present the latest results of her work at MAISON ET OBJET January 2018.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
