Many people have the idea that Germans are very cold and strict, and that they don’t care much about design unless it is useful, but when you look at these five hotel designs, you will certainly change your mind.

1. RITZ CARLTON

At Ritz Carlton, in Wolfsburg, it looks like you went through a portal and entered a completely different world. Although it is located at the end of Volkswagen’s Autostadt, and everyone associates industrial places with ugliness, it shows to be quite the opposite. Its semi-circle shape makes all the difference, it is an invitation to go inside and prepare to be marvelled. Once inside, you can’t help noticing the hotel design and how nicely everything is placed, thanks to Elliot Barnes who re-decorated it in 2013. Even the lamps on the ceiling are worth admiring, and the Brubeck suspension, from DelightFULL, a Portuguese lighting company, proves that. And if you aren’t impressed yet, just visit the SPA.

2. FLEMMING’S DELUXE HOTEL
Another German hotel, which will also impress you is the Flemming’s Deluxe Hotel, in Frankfurt. This hotel, established in 2001, is both central, which can suit you when you are on business, and has a lovely view if you just need to relax. This one has also a design touch and has some really interesting combinations using the Coltrane suspension lamps, also from DelightFULL, on the lobby and the Ike suspension, from the same brand, in the meeting room.

3. GRAND SCHLOSS BENSBERG
But if you are one of those people who has always dreamt about sleeping in a castle, Germany can also offer you that. One example is Grand Schloss Bensberg, in Cologne, one of the largest baroque palaces in Europe which didn’t stop in time. Here, you can have all the comfort of the 21st century’s furniture loyal to the style of the place, and that will make you feel like you are real princes and princesses.

4. COLOMBI HOTEL
Once you think about princes and princesses, you can’t help think about fairy tales and most of them talk about forests. Well, Germany has one of the best-known forests in Europe, the Black forest. So, if you want to spend a magical time, you can stay at Colombi Hotel, in Freiburg. This Hotel breathes charm, sensitivity, and emotion in the way it has been decorated. And the view over the picturesque town completes the painting.

5. RADISSON BLU HOTEL
To show how versatile Germany is, this last hotel, Radisson Blu Hotel, in Berlin, is very modern and will make feel a little bit eccentric. Once you are inside you can’t take your eyes off the amazing cylindrical aquarium, the AquaDom, at the lobby. For a moment or two, you might even think that you are underwater. Here the facilities have an elegant and very comfortable decoration, which leaves you ready to discover the fascinating capital city.
