With more than 112 movies to see and plenty of star-riddled movies to get behind on, the indie film festival is filled with promising movies that are going to take our breath away this 2019!
Velvet Buzzsaw
Jake Gyllenhaal stars this thriller/drama film. Coming from Dan Gilroy, known from Nightcrawler, the movie explores and satirizes the art world. The plot of the whole movie? That art is a riddle and sometimes hypocrite place. When an elderly neighbour dies and a naive art agent discovers hundreds of paintings, instructed to be destructed, Zawe Ashton characters offers them - and the nightmare begins. With A-listers such as Toni Collete, John Malkovich and Rene Russo.
The Report
Annette Bening and Adam Drivers are the stars of this drama. Inspired by a based on a true story political drama, the movie happens in the aftermath of 9/11 nonetheless. From the writer of The Informant! and The Bourne Ultimatum, Scott Z. Burns comes with a gripping movie that entails a lot when it comes to interrogations.
Late Night
The spectacular Emma Thompson is again on the spotlight. Late Night is one of our favourites, so, mind us a little. The importance of life, friendship is at stake in this comedy from director, producer and writer Sophie Hyde.
After The Wedding
Based on the Oscar-nominated 2006 Danish film, with Mads Mikkelsen on the lead, this American turn of the Oscar-nominated movie is opening the festival. Written and directed by Bart Freundlich, the American take on the Danish movies follows t+he manager of an orphanage in India as she travels to New York City.
