CARLA BAZ
“Today, highly experienced artisans have inherited this expertise passed down through generations and continue to preserve these crafts.”
The half-french, half-Lebanese designer has an outstading Master’s in Product Design for the Luxury Industry where many connections that shaped her future were met there. When later, after completed her training at Zaha Hadid Architects nonetheless, the designer decided to launch her own business where she later was rewarded by the Boghossian Foundation. This years edition counts with the beauty of fine materials and the elegant lines of the designer’s furniture. With a passion for craftsmanship, the traditional arts aren’t forgotten.

On this year’s edition of Maison et Objet September, the Lebanese designer brings all the majestic feeling that concrete has. With a collection of seven concrete vases, the astounding pieces are made of abandoned pieces and material scraps that are a metaphor for the ephemeral attachments. Her approach to design is fairly simple – finding a solution to a problem or in the designers own words – “collaboration with the world.

With many cultures in the mix, the designer presents an iconic style. Working fro paradises such as Beirut and Dubai the multicultural mix present in this rising talent is palpable. To this year’s event, the designer brings with her the Scandinavian design with a twist. Presenting one of the awarded pieces, the Troll Chair will be the one that will capture your attention.

Telling a story within each objet, the designer has the electric touch of the modern era. A storyteller by nature, Marc Diebh has a pinch for the drama effect that fits incredibly well into any material or design he touches. Showcasing his latest item, this dramatic umbrella is “Somewhere Under the Leaves”.

With a solo career since 2014, the Lebanese designer has a profound taste for all things modern. An artist that approaches design like no other, each piece carries history and imagination into it. An artistic view like no other, the themes are peculiar – running from social and political comments to art installations to functional themes.

The designers met in no other than Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts in Beirut. From then on the rest is history. With a specific approach to design, the studio creates the perfect fusion of design and concept. With architecture as one of their inspirations, each piece makes the perfect addition to any space. For this M&O 2018, the duo brings a the Mirage music box as well as the Indolente armchair. Both with a nostalgic feeling of the 50’s, this will be the one you won’t want to miss.
