If you think that Milan Design Week was the end of art shows in Italy, you’re absolutely wrong. The Open House Rome is already in the first weekend of May. During Saturday 5 and Sunday, May 6, 2012 we will have its first edition, organized by the non-profit ‘Cultural Open City Rome’, in collaboration with the larger international community Open House Worldwide.
The aim of this project is to create a unique access and understanding of places of Rome, and invite people to visit and look at buildings and urban spaces from a different perspective, in order to appreciate the value and quality.
In these two days, Rome is transformed in a public area of more than 100 buildings, offering guided tours.
The project was conceived nearly two decades ago and it has offices in Europe, America Australia and Middle East.
The tour will depart from the historic center of the capital, passing through the new Tiburtina Station by Studio ABDR and also the industrial archeology of Tiber Vittorio Gassman.
Among the many architectures, we highlight the Tower Eurosky made ??by StudioPure-Thermes, the International MAXXI museum designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the New Congress Centre signed by Studio Fuksas, the National Gallery of PalazzoBarberini, the National Academy of St. Luke and the famous ‘Square Colosseum’.
Open House Roma shows to the public, and especially to younger people, a series of models of eco-design and unusual events such as the biking adventure in the historic center. Seems funny and interesting to learn a bit more about architecture!
This initiative brings thousands of visitors from around the world and highlights the ancient architecture and contemporary. Are you ready to visit it?
