Artwork of people viewing artwork can be something confused, at the beginning. However, its a theme that only the bravest artists are allowed to work: Yosman Botero is one of them. His surreal work is a two-part series called Made Matter of Empty I and II.
The 3D optical illusions that you can observe in the images are created by the multimedia artist from his locale in Bogota through a meticulous process.
Firstly, he builds a frameless box by stacking layers of plexiglass together. Secondly, he paints flat subjects that float in between the layers in order to create the illusion of depth. Thirdly, he peppers these with a selection of other well-placed elements, whether a burst of floating bubbles or Spirograph-like cracks.
