The company has always been open to new ideas and forms of design and it has been farsighted, daring and certain of the advantage of combining craftsmanship and tailoring with industrial processing techniques to create unique products and by drawing on the worlds of industrial design, contemporary art, and fashion. Shitake Stool – Shitake is a mushroom which grows on tree trunks and in Dutch its name means “a bench for elves”. Marcel Wanders has experimented with the potential offered by rotational moulding to design a stool with an irregular, ironic shape which is reminiscent of a mushroom. The result is fun, irreverent yet enriched by the careful working of its surface which has been decorated to give the impression that it is covered in raised embroidery.![]()
Binta Armchair – Like a baobab Binta is still firmly on the ground, supported by feet and form recall the majestic African tree, compact, solid, but at the same time gently balanced in the disproportion between the circumference of the trunk and the extension of the branches.

Alessandra Armchair – A playful approach to contemporary life. Anticonformist, libertarian, post-modern: Alessandra’s design is the storyboard for a tale told from the perspective of a teenager, where experience always comes before meaning. The desire for roundness, overlapping and amorous couplings of bodies and forms, release the pieces from the normal passing of time into another place, a world which is also our own.

Double Soft Big Easy Sofa – The model obtained from a constructive gesture becomes industrial production; the visual softness and fullness of the volumes, comfort. Big Easy explores the rotational molding and the use of polyethylene; Soft version in the cold foaming and, with the polyester fiber cladding, the transformation of the tactile surface; in the elements of the collection, the morphology, and the dynamic form.

Victoria and Albert Sofa – A continuous flow of curving lines, an image-form drawn without ever lifting the pencil off the paper. Originally a ‘doughnut’ which provided inspiration for a sculpture: squashed, and reworked, using irony to go beyond the usual approach to industrial design. Then the piece itself: the padding and sewn-to-measure upholstery over an inner fibreglass frame reveal the interaction between the technical and expressive merits of the design.
