When we hear the word Bikini, the first thing that comes to our minds is that piece of clothing that girls wear on the beach. But that’s not what we are talking about. Bikini is one of the most incredible shopping centers you will ever see! Situated at Berlin’s Zoo, in Germany, it is changing and bringing fresh air into the west part of the city. It is not only a place where you can buy things but also a place for art and socialization.
Parts of the Bikini complex are the Bikini House, The Zoo Palast Cinema, the 25hours Hotel and the car park at the aquarium.

The complex “Zentrum am Zoo” (Center at the Zoo) was finished in 1957 and was a landmark in West Berlin. In 1960, a lot of industries were moving there but as soon as the Berlin Wall was erected, the complex started slowly dying. In 2014 it came back to life as a unique combination of shopping, gastronomy, workspaces, cinema, leisure, recreation and hotel.

People started calling the complex Bikini because of its two-piece architecture, different from all the rest at the time. And it is still causing impressions nowadays because of its pop-up stores. The middle of the building is occupied with modular wooden boxes that can be rented for short periods of time, giving new brands an opportunity to become known.
