The new Victoria Gate arcade it’s an architectural statement, the Acme director Friedrich Ludewig sees an arcade as the street roof. the firm has just completed a new retail complex in Leeds.

Revolutionizing that rare feat in malls: uniformly pleasing shop facias, Ludewing made this incredible job. Each retailer’s shop includes gold lettering on a black lacquered ribbon. In this project, you can also find by large brass pendant lights running the length of the ‘streets’, and a flooring of grey Chinese granite laid out herringbone style.

This bold piece of architecture sits on Eastgate, an Art Deco boulevard designed by Reginald Blomfield. You can find a diagrid created by relief-built brick and terracotta facade, and reconstituted stone palisades, and surrounding the bulges of the top floor, Acme used Corten steel panels.

The anchor tenant of the building is John Lewis store, that has been looking to put down roots in Leeds for 28 years. The interiors of the stores it’s similar to any of its stores, maintaining the image that they used us!

The another really eye-catching feature of this amazing Acme’s project, is the multistorey carpark. Its facade comprises myriad straight and twisting aluminium fins, giving a nod to the arcade’s diagrid.
