Most people agree that chocolate is one of the best things in the world. One of the saddest things in the world must be a closed chocolate factory. So, it is really nice to see that IFBU, from Munich, gave new life the old factory. Come and see it for yourself!

The “Chocolate factory”, dates back to 1870 and is one of the oldest commercial buildings in Berlin, Germany. It produced chocolate until 1973 and after that was converted into a block of flats and suffered some renovations.

More recently, the ground floor was bought by a German online game company, “Sauspiel”, to be transformed into their headquarters. And the result was just amazing!

The main goal of this project was to keep the original traits of the building but, at the same time, have all the modern comfort and facilities people need to work, such as heating, the internet and so on. It looks like an impossible mission, but IFUB, an architecture studio from Munich, did it just perfectly.

The original brick from the vaulted ceilings was kept and a system of cranes was installed to hide all the electrical wires so that the floors weren’t destroyed.

Besides the open-space office, the place also has an apartment to host the company’s guests and to be used as an extra meeting room.
To complete the beauty and functionality of the place, there are walls that are actually hidden cupboards, toilets, and even a kitchenette.
