Let’s meet a California house that was designed by the renowned real estate developer Joseph Eichler.
After four years of renovating their Northern California house, Karen and John have a beautiful home where they can raise their family. While thinking of their dreamy house design, they wanted not just any mid-century modern home, but one that specifically designed by the one and only Joseph Eichler.

“We fell in love with Eichler homes and mid-century modern design after seeing a nearby open house for a thoughtfully restored and renovated Eichler,” Karen says. “We decided we wanted to live in an inspiring home like that one, as a place to raise our boys and entertain friends and family.”
The Living Room
The living room is really what we call the mid-century dream. The lighting is simply one of our favorite details since it takes in light from all directions, including from the ceiling skylight. Of course, we also love the sputnik chandelier that provides a sophisticated touch to the room.
“We love the special details that make Eichler homes unique,” Karen and John say. “We have worked hard to bring back some architectural details that were once taken away from the house, such as glass windows and warm wood materials.”

The body has a copper plated finish for a more contemporary look, while the shade is lacquered a matte black on the outside and a white matte on the inside. It is essentially a copper table lamp that casts a soft glaze that will suit your modern entryway in the most flattering way.
The Bedroom
In the master bedroom, Karen and John took original mahogany panels with a unique design. The yarn wall hanging above the bed was a DIY project that is definitely on our wish-list.
