We are in Munich, Germany. Between the people that are going hurried to their work, we risk to visit the city by the subway.
There’s a design city on the underground.
That’s the conclusion that we achieve, when we down the stairs right straight to the Rosenheimer Platz. Here, time stops and there’s only time to contemplation.
Munich’s u-bahn subway system only began in 1972, but it has quickly grown into a 98 station system spread across the entire city. Some stand out stations include the colourful dulferstrasse station designed by Peter Lanz and Jurgen Rauch and Westfriedhof, which features lighting installations by Ingo Mauer.
The photographer Nick Frank understood that Munich had an underground treasure. His very graphic and colorful architectural shots are just perfect. Here is a futuristic vision of the Munich subway looking like something out of ’2001: A Space Odyssey.’
