Do: Dress Up. But NOT As a Sexy Leprauchan.
Green all around! One of the many special things about this Irish holiday is the fact that you can dress up! Accessorize your wardrobe and get that hopeful feeling out of the closet. Green socks, green hat, green shirt… all but a sexy leprechaun.
Don’t… Pinch Anyone.
While in the USA is a tradition to pinch people that aren’t wearing green, in Ireland that’s frowned upon. – And we can understand why! –
Do See The Parade.
One of the main events of the holiday, the St. Patrick’s Festival Parade falls on Saturday 17th of March. Starting at noon in Parnell Sq, it heads along O’Connell St and Dame St, ending at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Aim to be there a bit early because it fills up with people real quick! Plenty of colourful people, marching bands from all over the world and costumes all around are waiting for you!
Do Hit The Pubs.
It’s an international thing: on St. Paddy’s day, you drink up! Throughout the country, the pubs will be filled with people, so if you want to have a look around and find the best places you should be prepared first. With plenty of pubs to hit up, it surely won’t be a problem!
Do Have Cash In Hand.
As this is one of the busiest weeks of the country, ATM won’t be available. So get ready first! You won’t regret it!
Don’t… Wear a “Kiss Me I’m Irish” Shirt.
This is will only work in other places outside of Ireland so, think first before you buy it!
Last but Not Least … Dance to mandatory Irish Tunes.
“No Irish sesh is complete without a 5:00 am dance-off with a total stranger to a 90s hit by Westlife or the Backstreet Boys.” claims the Irish mirror. And it couldn’t be a better end of night don’t you think?
