It’s that time of the year again!
Ramy Fischler – sounds familiar? The designer of the year of this September edition of Maison et Objet 2018 was announced and for the likes of it, it seems to be the one charming everyone in the designer world. The election of the designer of the year 2018 is always an iconic symbol of the French trade fair and this year, the young Belgian designer is here to makes us see the beauty of his vision of design!

Influenced by the cinema world, Ramy Fischler has the quirk of never wanting to repeat itself. With fiction and collaborative work, the designer has the discipline to turn any object into a work of art. Even though the designer has statement pieces the most practical concepts belong in him as well.
Exploring the several territories of design, the designer of the year of Maison et Objet Septembre 2018 has worked in cultural, gastronomic and conceptual design spheres. After the award, French Academy’s Prix de Rome in 2011, the designer had an enlightened moment – through a moment in time, Villa Medici, turned into an inspirational point.
As of 2018, the designer who claims that design must make sense, he’s working as a stenographer for the opera – L’Opéra Comique. Presenting in September, this will include a set design for a version of Hamlet. Also making a presence in the Homo Faber event, the designer has as well, an exhibition called L’Intelligence de la Main for the Bettencourt Schueller Foundation.
According to Maison&Objet, “Ramy Fischler is a free spirit, who gladly introduces design in fields and dimensions where it appears out of place.” A breath of fresh air, the designer wants to bring a new and revamped look into the design world. As one of his latest projects, there’s a soup kitchen for the refugees and the homeless.
Above this incredible vision of design, to this year’s edition of the French trade show, the designer is going to bring a collection of different elements of the studio. Putting on a spotlight, the designer wants all the upcoming guests of the trade show to have an inside peek at what the designer thinks and perceives!
